Privacy Policy

Docket keeps your business data on your device. This policy explains what that means, the few things that involve anyone else, and your rights.

Last updated 18 September 2026

Docket (the "app") helps freelancers, tradespeople and small businesses create quotes, invoices and receipts, track payments and expenses, and hand a tidy year-end pack to their accountant. It is a local-first app: your business data is stored in a database on your own device, not on our servers. This policy explains what we do and do not process, and the rights you have, written to comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Your data never leaves your device. We literally cannot see it.

Docket has no servers and no accounts. Your invoices, quotes, customers, prices and payments live in a database on your phone. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share, export or back it up.

Who is responsible

Docket is operated by Dzine Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (No. 15952841). Because your data stays on your device, for most of it there is nothing for us to control. Where this policy does involve us, contact: support@dzine.digital.

What we collect

Nothing. Docket has no account system and no backend. We do not collect, receive, transmit or store your name, email, business details, customers, invoices, prices, expenses or payments. All of it is created and kept on your device.

DataWhere it livesWho can see it
Your business profile, customers, price book, quotes, invoices, receipts, expenses, jobs and paymentsOnly in the app's database on your deviceOnly you, on that device, until you choose to share something
Your business logo and any receipt photos you addOnly on your deviceOnly you
Backups (the encrypted .docket file)Wherever you choose to save or send itOnly someone with your device backup key or passphrase — never us

Docket contains no analytics, no advertising or behavioural-tracking SDKs, and no advertising identifiers. It requests no precise location and uploads no contacts.

When anything leaves your device

Data leaves your phone only when you deliberately make it happen:

  • Sharing a PDF, CSV or backup hands the file to your phone's own share sheet, and you pick where it goes (email, cloud drive, messaging app, Files). Docket has no say in, and no visibility of, that destination.
  • Payment reminders are drafted as ordinary messages that you send yourself through your own apps.

Backups are encrypted

Backup files are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, using a key held in your device's secure hardware or a passphrase you choose. Anyone without that key or passphrase — including us — cannot read a backup. If you lose both the device key and your passphrase, no one can recover it.

Purchases

Docket is free, with an optional one-time or subscription upgrade (Docket Pro). Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play (or, on iOS, Apple) through their own in-app billing. No other company is involved, and they receive no business data from Docket — only that a purchase was made. Whether you have Pro is checked on-device against your store account; we hold no record of it.

Third parties

The only third party in the entire product is the app store's own in-app billing (Google Play / Apple), used solely to process an optional purchase. We use no other processors, because there is no server-side data to process. We never sell personal data and never share it with advertisers.

Your rights

  • Access / portability — everything is already on your device. Settings → Export produces CSVs and a year-end pack; an encrypted backup gives you a full copy. These are always free.
  • Erasure — you delete your data yourself; see the data & deletion page. We hold nothing to erase.
  • Rectification — edit anything directly in the app (issued documents are locked for integrity; you correct them with a new version or credit note).
  • Complaints — you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we process no personal data on our side.

Children

Docket is a business tool for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18.

Changes

If we ever add a feature that changes how data is handled — for example optional, off-by-default crash reporting — we will update this page and the date above, and describe it plainly before it ships.
